Newly promoted Ipswich Town started their Premier League campaign against a Liverpool side under Arne Slot for the first time in a competitive match. The Reds will be hoping to give Man City a better run in for the title this season, whereas Town will be looking to try and defy the odds by avoiding relegation.

Liverpool would win the game 2-0, with goals from Diogo Jota and Mohammed Salah in the early stretches of the second half enough to see them head back to Anfield with all three points.

Player of the Match

Mohamed Salah

Liverpool's tailsman Salah was the focal point of the attack on the right hand side, with the Egyptian King making multiple runs past Ipswich's Leif Davis in the first half.

An assist and then a goal for the winger proves his continued quality at the top level, and the Reds will be hoping he can keep it up for the remainder of the season.

Worst Player

Leif Davis

Sadly Leif Davis looked completely out of his depth against Salah in the afternoon kickoff, with the left back having a mammoth task for the 90 minutes.

Davis is a promising talent, but he will need to step it up massively if he's going to help the Tractor Boys stay up.
