Milan will commence their 2020/21 Serie A campaign at home to Bologna on Monday evening.
At one point towards the end of last season, it seemed inevitable that Ralf Rangnick would be in the home dugout for the Rossoneri's first game of the new campaign, but with Milan going on an excellent run after lockdown under Stefano Pioli, the Italian earned an extended contract.
In the current transfer window Milan pulled off one of the most exciting of the summer when they acquired wonderkid Sandro Tonali on loan from Brescia with the obligation to buy next year.
Tonali had previously been strongly linked to Inter and Juventus, but as a boyhood Milan fan, it was them who eventually won the race for his signature. He made his debut from the bench in the Europa League last Thursday, and he could have to settle for a place there again against Bologna.
They have also sealed permanent deals for Simon Kjaer and Ante Rebic.
For their Serie A opener, though, Milan do have some selection issues.
Rafael Leao, Andrea Conti, Alessio Romagnoli, and Mateo Musacchio will all miss out through injury.
