How Bayern could line up versus Hertha

Bayern return to league duty after a week of contrasting emotions.

When the treble winners destroyed Schalke 8-0 on the opening day of the season, it sent a clear message to the rest of the Bundesliga that they had not slowed down since their historic previous campaign.

However, one of the surprises of the season took place in the second round of fixtures after they were comprehensively defeated 4-1 by Hoffenheim. It was a momentous result as it showed that Bayern could actually be beaten in 2020/21.

Bayern did bounce back from that with a victory over rivals Dortmund in the Super Cup.

Bayern: Squad, FC Ratings, Matches, Formations

A few squad players like Corentin Tolisso, Javi Martinez, and Kingsley Coman were given a place in the starting XI on Wednesday, and they could feature again this weekend against Hertha.

Leroy Sane is out until the end of the international break after suffering a knee injury, while Leon Goretzka has a back issue which forced him out of the Dortmund game.

After a rejig, expect Kimmich to drop into midfield, Thomas Muller to go into the number 10 role, and perhaps Serge Gnabry to be restored into the starting XI at the expense of Martinez.
