Gervinho stars for Parma to make Serie A Team of the Week

Former Arsenal striker Gervinho scored two goals from midfielder as his side overcame Genoa to move away from the bottom of the table.

Former Arsenal striker Gervinho was the star player in Serie A this weekend in a matchday that saw his side beat Genoa 2-1.

From an attacking midfield role, the Ivory Coast forward was on hand to score both of the visitor’s goals in their trip to the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris, where he earned an impressive 8.9 rating.

Up front Napoli duo Lorenzo Insigne (7.6) and Dries Mertens (7.6) were on hand to represent an outstanding 4-0 victory over Roma, which both players played a hand in by scoring two goals and assisting a third between them. They join Duvan Zapata (7.5) of Atalanta, who put on an impressive display despite his side’s 2-0 defeat to Verona.

In midfield, Gervinho is joined by fellow Parma midfielder Juraj Kucka (8.4) due to his assist for one of the Ivorian’s two goals, along with Mattia Zaccagni (8.2) following his goal in Verona’s aforementioned victory over Atalanta.

Danilo (7.6) of Juventus take the left-back spot in the team of the week alongside teammate Gianluca Frabotta (7.4) and Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli (7.9), as well as Benevento full-back Gaetano Letzia (8), following his goal against Juventus.

In goals we have Verona goalkeeper Maro Silvestri (8) following his performances to ensure a clean sheet during the 2-0 victory over Atalanta.
