The opening match of the 2024 European Championships is a mouthwatering one as the hosts, Germany, host Scotland at the Allianz Arena.

Both Julian Nagelsmann and Steve Clarke cant amend their squads anymore so they will have to progress in the tournament using the 26 men at their disposal.

Here's how their respective squads are shaping up.

Germany Team News

The major bit of team news for Germany surrounds Toni Kroos, as the Real Madrid midfielder came out of retirement to feature for his nation in the tournament. Over the next month, we'll see him play his final games as a footballer as he is retiring from club and country this summer.

He will likely start in the middle of midfield alongside Robert Andrich and Ilkay Gundogan.

There was some heartbreaking news for Aleksandar Pavlovic as he came down with tonsillitis so will miss the Euros, with his place in the squad being taken by Dortmund midfielder Emre Can.

Serial winner Kroos is back in competitive action for Germany and he'll provide much-needed experience and quality in what is sure to be a midfield battle on Friday.

Scotland Team News

As for Scotland, Lyndon Dykes had to withdraw from the squad after suffering an ankle injury in training.

Lawrence Shankland and Andy Robertson both finished training early on Monday which let to concerns, but both are believed to be okay.

With Dykes out of the running and Shankland not completing full training the other day, it seems likely that Che Adams will start up front. Scotland's strength comes from their midfield and the foursome of Scott McTominay, Billy Gilmour, Callum McGregor and John McGinn.

John McGinn will be sure to sure that big backside of his to win set-pieces for Scotland in key areas.
