RACISM NOT WELCOME HERE

Italian football has become the epicentre of racist behaviour at the beginning of this season, with Romelu Lukaku forced to face up to monkey chants in an away match versus Cagliari.

The authorities seem to be empty in their gestures to put an end to this systemic problem, but not Roma, who decided to take things into their own hands when a 'supporter' was found to be sending abuse to defender Juan Jesus via Instagram. Sometime if you want something done, you need to do it yourself.

LAZAR MARKOVIC STILL HAS SKILLS

Remember Lazar Markovic? A £20m signing for Liverpool largely regarded as one of the worst in their history, he even spent the last six months of last season on loan at Fulham, a move which positively no-one can remember. He's resurfaced at Partizan, who are competing in this season's Europa League, and this glorious piece of skill surfaced on Twitter from a recent match. He's still only 25 and clearly had ability at some point. Here's hoping he recaptures a glimmer of that talent.

SAVE OF THE SEASON?

Schalke recorded a largely unexpected, but well deserved, away win in Leipzig and had their goalkeeper to thank for a stunning double save that will be hard to beat come the end of the season.

Alexander Nubel made a great block to deny Emil Forsberg but then had to throw his body all the way across goal to extend himself and save the rebound from the onrushing Marcel Sabitzer. Great stuff.

EX-GOALKEEPER CATCHES ERRANT SHOT

To Hungary now, and Ujpest winger Krisztian Simon, who fires a shot well off target and into the opposing fans. And who catches the errant effort? It's only Peter Distzl, ex-Hungary international goalkeeper who was capped 37 times for his country. He receives a round of applause from the fans around him. Lovely moment.

IF YOU WANT SOMETHING DONE, DO IT YOURSELF

Now to Russia, where goals are generally at a premium, so much so that forwards have taken to setting themselves up for chances in order to get proper service.

Rostov's Elgor Shomurodov backpedalled to catch a cross into the area that was too deep, and just managed to make connection with his head. The ball spun up in the area, he watched it drop, and then promptly volleyed home from his own assist.
