How Manchester United could line up against Basaksehir

Edinson Cavani could be in line for a first start in Manchester United colours when his side play host to Istanbul Basaksehir on Tuesday night.

The Uruguayan has been made to bide his time on the bench since his free transfer in the summer, making four substitute appearances in the league and two in the Champions League so far.

The No.7 has managed a first goal for the Red Devils, coming against Everton prior to the international break, and could be thrust into the starting XI to aid Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s flailing attack.

The casualty of that change could be Anthony Martial who continues to navigate a rough patch of form.

The Frenchman has yet to score or assist in the Premier League, but has been involved in Europe with three goal contributions in the opening three group stage fixtures.

Solskjaer will hope to have Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood both available in some capacity, with the latter having missed both of United’s last two league games while remaining out of the England set-up.

Alex Telles made his return from coronavirus against West Bromwich Albion and should continue at left-back again as Luke Shaw remains absent. Dean Henderson could also return to the line-up after featuring in the reverse fixture.

New summer signing Donny van de Beek is continuing his gradual integration into the team and will hope to build on starts in United’s last two Champions League games with another one here.

Solskjaer’s side have demons to avenge after their disappointing defeat in Turkey at the beginning of the month and will be out to exact revenge.

A win could prove vital to their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages of the tournament ahead Paris Saint-Germain’s trip to Old Trafford next week.
