It's rare for a 30-year-old to make his bow at national team level but congratulations are in order for Marcus Danielsson, who excelled in Sweden's 4-0 win over Malta.
The Djurgarden stopper scored a lovely volley to open his account, controlling his effort from the corner to power past the goalkeeper, and was generally a thoroughly solid defensive presence for his team throughout.
Danielsson won 4/4 tackles, 5/7 aerials as well as seven recoveries, three interceptions and four clearances. He also completed 60/68 passes from his position at centre-back. The opposition may have been modest but Danielsson couldn't have done much more to prove he belongs at this level.
