6. LEAO BRILLIANT IN DEFEAT

AC Milan produced an abject performance at home to Fiorentina, losing to a Franck Ribery-inspired Fiorentina 3-1, but one chink of light proved to be the superb goal by Rafael Leao, who collected the ball 30 yards from goal and slalomed his way through one, two, three, FOUR challenges before having the composure to slot into the corner. Great goal, but merely a consolation.

5. VALENCIA CUT ATHLETIC OPEN

We all like a well-worked team goal, with Leverkusen also scoring a well-worked effort at Augsburg this weekend, but Valencia's quick counter-attack to slice through a well-drilled Athletic Bilbao side was a thing of beauty. The ball is worked at pace through the middle before reaching Ferran Torres, whose low cross is drilled into the path of Denis Cheryshev, who is able to slot home.

4. MCTOMINAY BELTS ONE HOME

It's fair to say that Man Utd's clash with Arsenal wasn't exactly of the highest quality, but one memorable moment game from the boot of Scott McTominay, who collected Marcus Rashford's cutback to the edge of the area, steadied himself, and rifled a stunning shot into the top corner.

3. PJANIC PEARLER

Juventus were in rampant mood but faced stubborn opposition against SPAL on Saturday and on another day they could have scored more. Miralem Pjanic finally made the breakthrough and it was worth waiting for, a cultured, expertly-placed dipping shot that flew past Etrit Berisha, who was on inspired form on the day.

2. THE RARELY-SEEN DOUBLE-NUTMEG ASSIST

To Russia now and Kyrelia Svetov's victory over FC Tambov, topped off by a sublime assist from Alexander Sobolev. Collecting the ball 40 yards from goal, he sends the first defender the wrong way by flicking through his legs, then as the second approaches he gets the same treatment, before a perfectly-timed through ball gives Maksim Kanunnikov the easiest of tasks to slot home.

1. GOMEZ TEARS SASSUOLO APART

After an inauspicious start to their first-ever Champions League campaign, Atalanta have bounced back with two wins and a draw, including Saturday's obliteration of Sassuolo. They scored four goals in the opening 35 minutes, the pick of the bunch a marauding run from Alejandro Gomez, who is almost on the half-way line when he collects the ball but just charges at goal, skipping through challenges and nutmegging a defender before stabbing home. Individual goals this good are rare these days.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

Ricardo Pereira's solo run and shot to open the scoring against Newcastle was well-executed though the defending left a little to be desired.
