Eric Choupo-Moting is close to signing with European champions Bayern Munich on a free transfer, reports from Germany suggest.
The former PSG forward is available on a free after his contract with Les Parisiens ended at the close of the 2019/20 season.
The 31-year-old has become a bit of a cult figure in Paris after his move there, having spent the season before in the Premier League with Stoke, who were ultimately relegated.
But he made some important cameos from the bench for the Ligue 1 giants, including a crucial goal against Atalanta in the Champions League, helping them to turn around the tie.
He made just 13 league starts in total for PSG across two seasons, regularly given minutes from the bench, and Bayern see him as the type of back-up forward who will be happy to play second-string to Robert Lewandowski, who will play most weeks.
Bayern have been careful in the transfer market this summer, with Leroy Sane their only flagship arrival, and they were reluctant to spend big on a forward who would receive minimal minutes.
Choupo-Moting, who managed three goals and an assist last season, is the ideal candidate for the position.
