Both Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid will be hoping the officials are seen and not heard during the Champions League final at Wembley on Saturday.

BVB are looking to win the competition for the second time, while the Spanish giants are looking to add to their incredible tally by claiming the trophy for the 15th time in their illustrious history.

Following the group stage, Dortmund made it to the final by defeating PSV, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain over two legs in the round of 16, quarter-final and semi-final stage respectively.

Madrid beat RB Leipzig, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

Who is refereeing the Champions League final?

Slovenian official Slavko Vincic will referee the Champions League final, joined by assistants Tomaz Klancnik & Andraz Kovacic.

Frenchman François Letexier is the fourth official.

On hearing of the news that he would referee the final, Vincic said: "When I received the news, it was a very emotional moment and I am still feeling these big emotions as I talk about it, it's a very difficult thing to describe. I'm proud for myself and my team because we work very hard together.

"I'm also proud that I can represent Slovenian referees, the national refereeing committee, the Football Association of Slovenia and the country itself at the biggest football match in the world."

He has never refereed the Champions League final before, but did take charge of the 2022 Europa League final. He has also been selected to officiate games at the European Championships.

Vincic has refereed 23 games this season across Slovenian domestic competitions and in Europe, handing out 91 yellow cards, one red card and two penalties.

In five Champions League matches, he has shown 19 yellow cards this season.

Who is on VAR for the Champions League final

Nejc Kajtazovic, also of Slovenia, is in charge of VAR, while Rade Obrenovic will assist and Massimiliano Irrati will support.
