After their victory over Brentford in the League Cup and ahead of a tough Premier League challenge against Aston Villa, Jose Mourinho will be hoping to rest a number of key players for Tottenham Hotspur’s FA Cup clash with non-league side Marine.

So which players can the Portuguese manager afford to rest ahead of this FA Cup tie to avoid a calamitous and embarrassing cup defeat?

As has been the case in each of Tottenham’s cup competitions, Mourinho is expected to stick with Joe Hart between the posts.

Matt Doherty is expected to take up his spot at right-back, with Ben Davies at left-back, while Mourinho is expected to bring in Joe Rodon to partner Davinson Sanchez in a makeshift defensive pairing.

Midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is out of the FA Cup clash with an injury and Mourinho is expected to rest Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, so we should expect to see Harry Winks start alongside 19-year-old Harvey White in the middle of the pitch.

Gareth Bale could be brought in as a late addition if deemed fit enough, but if not Mourinho is expected to start Lucas Moura on one wing and 20-year-old Jack Clarke on the other. The rarely seen Dele Alli should then be offered an opportunity to prove his worth with a starting role in the No.10 position.

As has become customary in the cup competitions this season, on-loan striker Carlos Vinicius will lead the line for Tottenham.
