Manchester City thumped Newcastle 5-0 at the Etihad on Wednesday night, with departing superstar David Silva playing a pivotal role with a goal and two assists.

It was all separate scorers for Pep Guardiola's side against the Magpies, with an own goal from Federico Fernandez and strikes from Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, and Raheem Sterling adding to the aforementioned one from Silva.

Having already announced his intention to leave the club at the end of the campaign, City fans simply need to enjoy what little time they have left with the Spaniard, who was utterly sensational in what will be one of his last ever Premier League games.

What was SIlva's overall display like?

Where to start...

On the night, City weren't up against much, with Newcastle providing far too much space for the home side's playmakers to operate, Silva in particular.

A ⏱️ 10' It took Silva just 10 minutes to record his first assist of the match, showing a burst of speed to drive in behind the opposition backline before firing a low cross into the centre of the box for Jesus to convert into the back of the net.

⚽ ⏱️ 65' Midway through the second half, he would get his name on the scoresheet with a wonderful, almost effortless free-kick curled into the top corner from 22 yards.

A ⏱️ 91' Even at the age of 34 he was still full of energy in the latter stages, as it was a superb interception in the final third which allowed him to win the ball and rush forward before sliding a square pass for Sterling to score, earning him his second assist in the process.

The Spaniard also completed four dribbles, and had eight touches in the opposition penalty area.

Overall, he earned a perfect 10.0 FC Rating for his performance.

What Next?

Sadly Silva's Man City career will be over soon, with his next move not yet clear.

However, with four games remaining in the Premier League, and the small matters of the FA Cup and Champions League on the horizon, the Spaniard could still play in a pivotal role in what could be a memorable season for Guardiola's outfit.
