Lille have completed the signing of Angel Gomes from Manchester United, with the 19-year-old heading to Boavista on loan for the duration of the 2019/20 season.

Gomes has been with the Red Devils since the age of five, working his way up the ranks to be recognised as one of the most exciting young talents in English football.

However, he has been scarcely utilised in recent seasons including from current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, which has led to the player allegedly leaving Old Trafford in the search for first-team football.

He has indeed joined Lille but that isn’t where he’ll get first-team football just yet as he has been loaned to Primeira Liga side Boavista, who hold a partnership with Lille, for the rest of the upcoming campaign.

When Gomes turned down Man Utd’s latest contract offer, Chelsea were mentioned as a potential destination.

But, he has opted to move abroad for the next part of his career path.

In the 2019/20 season, he featured on just six occasions in all competitions for Solskjaer.
