Alexis Sanchez has joined Inter on a permanent deal from Manchester United.

The 31-year-old spent the 2019-20 season on loan with Antonio Conte’s side, helping them finish as runners-up in Serie A, while they remain in the latter stages of the Europa League.

The Chilean had been deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford having failed to find the form that earned him the move from Arsenal in the first place which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move in the other direction.

Sanchez scored just five goals in 45 appearances for United before the move to Italy.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wished him well on Wednesday after United’s Europa League victory over LASK.

"They've liked him, so of course that's a good move for him. Wish him all the best. He's a top player, that we want to see play his best football,” the Norwegian said.

"For whatever reason we didn't see the best of Alexis, but he's a top professional and we just wish him all the best."

Sanchez’s departure frees up United’s famous number seven shirt, which could go to Jadon Sancho should the Englishman finally make the move from Dortmund.
