An average Arsenal performance was saved by super sub Alexander Lacazette, who scored the winner early in the second half.
The Gunners rode their luck against Brighton for portions of the game, and only a lack of end-product saved Mikel Arteta's side from a defeat.

Who were the best and worst performers from both sides?
✔️ GOOD PERFORMANCE
Yves Bissouma: 6.9
The defensive midfielder was one of Brighton's standout players in what was a hugely disappointing result for the home side.
Bissouma worked tirelessly for Graham Potter's men, and broke up a lot of Arsenal's play in midfield.
Unfortunately for Bissouma, he was let down by his more attack-minded teammates.
❌ BAD PERFORMANCE
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: 6.1
What has happened to Aubameyang?
The Gabon striker looks a shadow of the player who rattled in goal after goal last season for The Gunners.
He wasted one glorious chance in this game, where he opened up his body and shot wide with the goal at his mercy.
There's a lack of confidence in his game, and it's difficult to see where his next goal will come from. It was a very listless performance from him.
Mikel Arteta will hope the 31-year-old will regain his old form, as Arsenal don't look half as menacing.
⭐ STAR MAN
Alexander Lacazette: 6.9
Other players for Arsenal received higher ratings (Rob Holding for one), but we would be talking about more dropped points for Arsenal, as opposed to a win, because of the Frenchman.
Lacazette scored after only 43 seconds on the pitch. His introduction added some dynamism to an otherwise lethargic display from Arsenal's attackers.
His goal was also superbly taken, cushioning the ball into the bottom left-hand corner of Robert Sanchez's goal from inside the penalty box.
