The game between Cardiff and Sunderland is arguably one of the Championship fixtures on Friday with the least on the line.

The teams are positioned 11th and 12 respectively in the second tier, though Cardiff do have an outside chance of making the play-offs if they put together a good run of form between now and the end of the campaign.

Current Form

Cardiff's current form

Cardiff were previously on a cracking run of four straight victories, but they were brought back down to Earth after a 2-0 defeat away at Swansea a couple of Saturdays ago.

They are currently eight points adrift of the play-offs so need to find form again quickly if they are to mount a late assault on the top six.

Sunderland's Current Form

Sunderland, meanwhile, are on a dismal run of form and have lost six out of their last seven games in the Championship, with their last victory coming at the beginning of February.

They did stop the rot, slightly, in their last game by claiming a point away at Queens Park Rangers.

Team News

Aaron Ramsey has missed most of the season for Cardiff but received a shock call-up to the Wales squad over the international break, though the nation failed to qualify for Euro 2024.

It seems unlikely he'll be involved in the Sunderland game despite apparently being fit enough to feature for Wales.

Callum Robinson and Mark McGuinness remain absent.

For Sunderland, Jack Clarke and Patrick Roberts are close to returns, but Friday's match may come too early for the pair.

Jenson Seelt, Niall Huggins and Dennis Cirkin are all injured, but Luke O'Nien is available after serving a two-match suspension.

Scoreline Prediction

Sunderland have been so poor recently, even after the sacking of Michael Beale, that you can't really see them getting anything against Cardiff.

Expect the hosts to claim a comfortable 2-0 win.
