Barcelona have confirmed that one of their players has tested positive for coronavirus.

Nine players were tested on Tuesday; Pedri, Trincao, Matheus Fernandes, Jean-Clair Todibo, Moussa Wague, Carles Alena, Rafinha, Juan Miranda and Oriol Busquets.

However, the Catalan side have not revealed the name of the individual impacted.

Crucially, the nine players involved in testing are not part of Barcelona’s travelling party to Lisbon for the final stages of the Champions League, meaning that none of the senior players set to be involved in the match against Bayern on Friday have been infected.

A statement released from the club confirmed the news.

"Following PCR tests conducted this Tuesday afternoon on the group of nine players due to begin the preseason today, one of them has tested positive for COVID-19,” the statement read.

“The player has no symptoms, is in good health and has been quarantined at his home.

“The club has reported the matter to the relevant sporting and health authorities. All persons who have been in contact with the player have been tracked to perform the corresponding PCR tests.

“The player has not been in contact with any of the senior team players who are scheduled to travel to Lisbon this Thursday to compete in the Champions League.”

Barcelona reached the last eight of the Champions League thanks to a 4-2 aggregate victory over Napoli.
