Romelu Lukaku just can’t stop scoring right now. This season he has played 11 games in all competitions for Inter and Belgium together, scoring an impressive 10 goals.

For Inter, he has bagged five goals in five Serie A starts and two goals in as many Champions League appearances.

These numbers are particularly impressive considering the fact that the Nerazzurri have been struggling so far this term.

They have won just one of their last eight games – including none of their three Champions League matches – and currently find themselves in seventh position in Serie A.

Lukaku has single-handedly carried Inter at times in 2020/21, so much so that after the 2-2 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach last month, the German winger Jonas Hoffman remarked that Inter’s only tactic “is to launch it to Lukaku 99 per cent of the time”.

In Serie A this season, there are only three attackers who have a higher average FC rating than Lukaku. These are Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Muriel.

Only Zlatan, Ronaldo and Andrea Belotti have scored more league goals.

The 27-year-old has been equally impressive for Belgium this season. He has scored three goals in three UEFA Nations League matches, taking his overall tally for the national team to a whopping 55 goals in 87 appearances.

He is already the record goalscorer for his country, having broken the record at the age of just 24.

According to InStat, Lukaku is averaging 2.8 shots per game, 0.91 key passes, 4.4 air challenges and 2.3 dribbles in all competitions.

The one statistic that Lukaku could improve on this term is his assists number. He is yet to create a goal for a team-mate, having made 10 assists in the whole of last season.

One thing he is not lacking, though, is goals as Lukaku shows himself to be one of the best scorers of his generation.
