Premier League team news: How Chelsea and Arsenal could line up

Thomas Tuchel's side will look to avenge their 3-1 loss in the reverse fixture with a big win in their race for Champions League football

In a game that matters little in terms of their season, this game is huge for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal. The Spaniard is under immense pressure to deliver and with his side currently sitting in ninth place in the Premier League, scrutiny is high.

A London derby against high-flying Chelsea then could swing either way, but with Thomas Tuchel at the helm, the Blues have looked dominant and resolute; they've been exceptional under their new boss.

The West London side picked up a crucial win over Manchester City last time out, as Arsenal did against West Brom, and are now in the driving seat for a top four spot; a win against the Gunners would almost confirm it.

But how will each team line up in this London derby?

Chelsea

Marcos Alonso's late winner at the Etihad was simply vital, and they head into this game in imperious form.

However, with the FA Cup final against Leicester on Saturday 15 May, and the Champions League final to follow on 29 May, Tuchel may opt for a slightly rotated side, just as he did against Man City.

Edouard Mendy will stay in between the sticks, with Kepa Arrizabalaga likely to start in the FA Cup final as he's the designated 'cup keeper'.

Andreas Christensen hobbled off in the win against City so won't be fit to start, and with Antonio Rudiger suffering a jaw injury against Real Madrid, and using a mask to prevent further injury, he may well be rested for the final.

Thiago Silva was completely rested and not involved in the matchday squad against Man City, so expect to see him return to the starting XI, with Cesar Azpilicueta and Kurt Zouma either side of him in the back three.

Reece James will start at right wing-back, with Ben Chilwell returning on the left, despite Alonso's goal.

N'Golo Kante started against City before being replaced by Jorginho, and expect to see the Frenchman on the bench against Arsenal. Mateo Kovacic has been nursing an injury for weeks so won't be risked. Jorginho and Billy Gilmour will start in the middle of the park.

Mason Mount, like Thiago Silva and Chilwell, wasn't involved at the Etihad, but will come straight back in. Callum Hudson-Odoi impressed off the bench at the weekend so should start, with Kai Havertz playing as a false nine.

Arsenal

Kieran Tierney was rested against West Brom, with Bukayo Saka filling in at left-back, but the Scottish international will return to form a back four of Calum Chambers, Rob Holding, Gabriel and himself. Bernd Leno will be in goal.

Dani Ceballos started, but was brought off against the Baggies and his replacement in the game, Thomas Partey, will start against Chelsea instead. He'll partner Mohamed Elneny at the base of midfield.

Willian, Nicolas Pepe and Emile Smith-Rowe all bagged a goal at the Emirates on Sunday night, but expect only Pepe to start here.

Smith-Rowe suffered an injury against the now-relegated Baggies so won't be fit. Martin Odegaard will take his place at No.10, with Pepe on the right and returning on the left will be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Gabriel Martinelli was rewarded with a start through the middle last time out, but the far more experienced Alexandre Lacazette should come in from the start.
