Pepe and Odegaard back in – How Arsenal could line up against Leeds United

Mikel Arteta will look to continue his search for silverware as Arsenal take on Leeds United in the League Cup.

Arsenal will host Leeds United in the League Cup on Tuesday night with a win taking them into the quarter-finals and one step closer to silverware.

The Gunners have been in fine form in the league after losing their opening three fixtures, with four wins and two draws in the six games since then.

Mikel Arteta’s side have scored nine goals and conceded none in their previous two League Cup ties and will be out to take similar form into this one as they chase the trophy.

FOOTBALLTRANSFERS' MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS IN THE WORLD

Bernd Leno should come back in between the posts, with Aaron Ramsdale now seemingly displacing him in league action.

The defence has gained new found familiarity and strength, though Arteta could shuffle the pack and bring in Rob Holding to partner Gabriel at centre-half, with Cedric and Sead Kolasinac coming in on the flanks.

Mohamed Elneny has struggled for game time so far and could get an opportunity in midfield alongside Thomas Partey.

Nicolas Pepe and Martin Odegaard were both on the bench for Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa last Friday night, and both should return to the starting XI for midweek action.

Gabriel Martinelli could get a chance to play down the left-hand side, with the Brazilian still never really recovering from a long-term knee injury sustained over a year ago.

Alexandre Lacazette has been back in the side of late and scored his first league goal of the season against Crystal Palace last week. He could be given the nod to start again, allowing captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to rest.

With no European football and the prospect of a title challenge unlikely in the league, the League Cup presents a viable opportunity for Arsenal to add an item to their trophy cabinet this season.

With tails up on the back of a good spell of form, the Gunners will be confident of a good showing and eager to advance into the next round.
