Arsenal have endured a woeful start to their 2021/22 Premier League season, suffering back-to-back 2-0 defeats, against Brentford and Chelsea respectively.
The Gunners will therefore look to bounce back against West Brom in the Carabao Cup. Thanks to their lowly eighth place finish last season, Arsenal have entered the competition a round earlier than the big clubs in England, with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool not joining until round three.
That means Arsenal need to see off West Brom to even have a chance of competing against the biggest sides in the country.
Although the Baggies were relegated from the top flight last season, they have started the Championship on fire, currently sitting in second place, and have impressed with their brand of football. Arsenal will be heavy favourites, but don't write off West Brom.
With a clash against Manchester City on the near horizon, Arteta will most likely use this game to regain some confidence, but also give new signings and stars returning to fitness a chance to gain some valuable minutes.
Arsenal's Predicted XI
In front of him will be a back four of Nuno Tavares, Pablo Mari, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers. Kieran Tierney limped off against Chelsea giving the chance to Tavares, while Ben White and Gabrield Magalhaes remain absent.
Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny will likely play as the double pivot, while Martin Odegaard will take Emile Smith Rowe's place at No.10 having arrived on a permanent deal from Real Madrid.
Reiss Nelson and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may well be deployed out wide to give Nicolas Pepe and Bukayo Saka a rest, although the latter will likely appear off the bench.
Folarin Balogun could be handed another chance through the middle, while Alexandre Lacazette recovers from illness.
