How Man City and Liverpool could line up in FA Cup semi final

Manchester City and Liverpool played out an entertaining 2-2 draw a week ago and will face off again in the Cup

Manchester City and Liverpool will quickly renew hostilities on Saturday afternoon as the two Premier League juggernauts battle in the FA Cup semi final at Wembley.

Less than a week ago, the pair faced off in the Premier League in an entertaining clash that ended 2-2 at the Etihad.

They'll both turn their attentions to Cup duties for this one, naturally eager to reach the final on 14 May.

Both teams were involved in Champions League matches during the week and both successfully progressed to the semi of that competition thanks to tie victories over Atletico Madrid and Benfica respectively.

Man City undoubtedly had it tougher as they were in a war against Atletico, and that is reflected by some fitness issues heading into the FA Cup.

Both Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker were forced off injured in that one and it is highly unlikely we'll see them involved on Saturday. There will be other bumps and bruises to shake off among the other members of the squad.

Cole Palmer is the only other definite absentee.

Ederson will start in goal behind a likely back four of Joao Cancelo, Aymeric Laporte, Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake.

John Stones started against Atletico, but Dias was on the bench so will be fit enough to return, while Cancelo will move to right-back to cover for Walker.

With De Bruyne out, Bernardo Silva will move into a deeper role in midfield alongside Ilkay Gundogan and Rodri.

Raheem Sterling could be recalled alongside Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez.

As for Liverpool, the only injury concern they have surrounds Diogo Jota who has picked up a knock.

For the Reds, Alisson will start in goal with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson in defence.

Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago will feature in midfield.

Roberto Firmino was superb against Benfica midweek, but might drop to the bench, with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz making up the front three.
