How Barcelona and Atletico Madrid could line up in La Liga showdown

The title race in Spain is set to go down to the wire, with both Barca and Atleti still in the mix to be crowned champions

Barcelona face Atletico Madrid in La Liga this weekend in a clash which is sure to have major ramifications in the title race in Spain.

At the moment, Atletico lead La Liga on 76 points, with both Real Madrid and Barcelona on 74 points in second and third respectively.

Should the Blaugrana overcome their title rivals in this massive fixture, they will leapfrog them in the table. Elsewhere, Real Madrid take on Sevilla on Sunday in another equally as important game.

Any three of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Real Madrid could finish the weekend as leaders of La Liga.

Ronald Koeman has no fresh injury concerns heading into the game at Camp Nou, with Ansu Fati and Philippe Coutinho still out.

Fati underwent surgery on his knee this week after a relapse in his recovery from a ligament injury.

We could, therefore, see an unchanged starting XI from the team that defeated Valencia 3-2.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen will start in goal behind a back three of Ronald Araujo, Gerard Pique, and Clement Lenglet.

Sergino Dest and Jordi Alba will start in the wing-back roles, with Sergio Busquets, Pedri and Frenkie de Jong all in the centre.

Antoine Griezmann will start against his former club partnering Lionel Messi in attack. Ousmane Dembele will likely have to settle for a place on the bench.

For Atletico, it looks like Renan Lodi will not make it after failing to recover from a muscle injury. He missed the game against Elche which will probably mean another back three of Mario Hermoso, Jose Gimenez, and Stefan Savic against Barca.

Kieran Trippier and Yannick Carrasco will start in the wing-back roles.

Diego Simeone has plenty of options in the central midfield area and may opt for Geoffrey Kondogbia, Koke, and Marcos Llorente.

Thomas Lemar and Saul Niguez will be available from the bench if they don't feature from the start.

Moussa Dembele and Joao Felix are options in attack but Simeone will likely start with Luis Suarez and the endeavour of Angel Correa.
