The Cameroon national team is one of the most successful African nations in international football. The Indomitable Lions have won five Africa Cup of Nations titles in 1984, 1988, 2000, 2002, and 2017 and boast the best goalscorer in the history of the tournament in Samuel Eto’o (18). They have qualified for the World Cup on seven occasions which is more than any other African nation and reached the quarter-final of the 1990 edition in Italy. They made it out of a tough group including Argentina, the Soviet Union, and Romania. In the Round of 16 Cameroon and 38-year-old forward Roger Milla scored two in extra-time to ensure a 2-1 win against Colombia, with his subsequent dancing celebration near the corner flag is one of the all-time greatest moments in the competition’s history. In the last eight, they lost out to England in extra-time with Gary Lineker scoring the winner. Rigobert Song is their record appearance holder, while Eto’o has found the net on the most occasions.
