How Man City and PSG could line up in the Champions League

One of the biggest fixtures in Matchday Four in the Champions League sees Pep Guardiola reunited with Lionel Messi

One of the biggest fixtures of Matchday Four in the Champions League Group Stage sees Paris Saint-Germain travel to face Manchester City at the Etihad.

This one will be full of narratives but the biggest focus will be on Pep Guardiola going head-to-head against former player Lionel Messi, with the pair having enjoyed a hugely successful period at Barcelona together.

Now, the Argentine is at PSG alongside fellow superstars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

PSG and Man City have already faced each other in this season's competition earlier in the group, with the French giants winning 2-0 at home thanks to goals from Idrissa Gueye and Messi.

The match on Wednesday will be taking place even with speculation mounting that PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has emerged as Manchester United's number one managerial target to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Man City will, unfortunately, be without Kevin De Bruyne for the Champions League clash as he continues his recover from a positive coronavirus test.

Ferran Torres remains out with a fractured foot, while the fitness of Jack Grealish is unclear as he missed the squad for the Everton win due to a minor issue.

Ederson will start in goal behind a likely back four of Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte and Joao Cancelo.

John Stones replaced Dias in the Everton game, but expect the Portuguese to return.

With De Bruyne still missing, Bernardo Silva, Rodri and Ilkay Gundogan should retain their spots in the midfield three.

Cole Palmer was given an opportunity to impress versus the Toffees, but expect Gabriel Jesus to be restored to the starting XI for this one alongside Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling in attack.

Sterling has been in and out of the team recently, but scored and looked generally bright against Everton so may keep his place ahead of Riyad Mahrez.

PSG defenders Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe missed the weekend victory over Nantes but should be available to feature against Man City.

Sergio Ramos is in line to make his long-awaited debut for the club but if we do see him, it will be from the bench.

Gianluigi Donnarumma has recovered from gastroenteritis and should start behind a back four of Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe and Nuno Mendes.

Leandro Paredes started at the weekend but may lose his place in the midfield three to Ander Herrera, who will join Idrissa Gueye and Marco Verratti. Georginio Wijnaldum will also be pushing for a start.

In attack, it will be Messi, Mbappe and Neymar.
