Premier League representatives have voted to push back the return of the 2019/20 season, which was due to restart in May, to an undetermined date, 'but only when it is safe to do so.'

The restart date will remain under constant review and dialogue will continue through the month of April as to when an appropriate point to return might be.

It was almost made clear via the Premier League's statement that all parties unanimously want to complete the 2019/20 campaign, including the FA Cup, in as timely as fashion as possible.

The meeting also included financial discussions, and the following was agreed:

- A discussion with players regarding a 30% deduction in salary for the next period

- Advancing funds in the region of £125m to EFL National League clubs to allow them to maintain solvency with no revenue coming in

- A £20m commitment to the NHS, communities, families and vulnerable groups to assist in this crisis

The Premier League concluded the statement by making it clear that the resumption of the season will only happen in co-ordination with, and with full support of, the government and medical guidance.
