Barcelona in 'GOAT' dig to Juventus and Ronaldo

Barcelona have trolled Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo with a 'Greatest Of All Time' post on Twitter about captain Lionel Messi.

On Wednesday evening Barca took on Juve in the Champions League and put in, according to head coach Ronald Koeman, their most complete performance of the season so far to win 2-0 away from home.

Messi was the best player on the pitch, assisting the opener with a ridiculous diagonal pass to Ousmane Dembele before finishing the home side off with a late penalty to make it 2-0.

He earned a 9.7 FC Rating for his performance and a place in FootballCritic's Champions League Team of the Week for Matchday Two.

While Messi was starring for Barca, Juventus were without their talisman, Ronaldo.

In the international break, the Portuguese superstar tested positive for coronavirus and subsequently had to quarantine.

Prior to this week he had already missed three Juventus matches - Crotone and Verona in Serie A and Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League.

He would have been eligible to feature against Barcelona if he successfully handed in a negative Covid test on Tuesday, the night before the game.

Unfortunately for the Bianconeri, it was positive, which left him still on the sidelines.

In reference to the debate about who is the best player ever between Messi and Ronaldo, Barca took the opportunity to rub salt in Juve's wounds after the game.

They tweeted:

"We are glad you were able to see the Goat on your pitch, @juventusfcen"

The win for Barcelona was certainly needed as it came after a Clasico loss versus Real Madrid the weekend previous.
