Suarez will prosper at Juve alongside 'winner' Ronaldo

Luis Suarez will have no problem playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus as both players have 'winner' DNA, says former Barca director Ariedo Braida.

After Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League at the hands of Bayern, head coach Quique Setien was quickly replaced by Ronald Koeman.

One of the first tasks the Dutchman undertook was to inform Suarez that he no longer had a future at the club.

Former clubs Liverpool and Ajax have been mentioned as possible destinations, but Juventus are now leading the race, with personal terms reportedly already agreed.

Doubters have pointed to the Uruguayan's age as he is currently 33, while potential future team-mate Ronaldo is 35.

Braida, who has also worked at Milan in the past, thinks the pair can still be effective together, though.

“He won't have problems playing with Ronaldo," he told Tuttosport.

“They'll understand each other perfectly because they're two natural winners.”

As for Suarez's likely acrimonious exit from the Camp Nou, Braida says he is not surprised because football runs in circles and it was likely the player's time to leave.

“I'm not surprised about his Barcelona exit because football is about cycles," he suggested.

“Even Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid because he felt his time there was over.

“Suarez is a fighter and his battling spirit infects the rest of his teams. He has character and the DNA to play for Juventus and other big clubs.

“If he is motivated, he'll be a strong signing even at 33 years of age.”

Koeman us currently undertaking an overhaul of the Barca squad to lower the average age. Ivan Rakitic has already left for Sevilla, and could be joined soon by Arturo Vidal as well as Suarez.
