Juventus didn’t just prove themselves the best team in Serie A in 2013-14, they also made a case for themselves to be considered one of the greatest sides the league had ever seen.
Antonio Conte’s side made it three Scudetti in a row by racking up a record-breaking 102 points, after dropping points in just five games over the course of an utterly dominant campaign.
As ever, Juve were almost unbreachable at the back, while Paul Pogba, Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo formed one of the most wonderfully complementary midfield threes of the modern era.
However, it was the addition of Carlos Tevez up front that helped the Old Lady go to another level, as the Argentine attacker struck up a prolific partnership with another new arrival, Fernando Llorente, to fire the Bianconeri to their most impressive title triumph yet.
CHANGES
Juve’s success continued to be founded upon excellent work by CEO Beppe Marotta in the transfer market. Indeed, Llorente had arrived on a free transfer from Athletic Bilbao, while Manchester City had requested just €9 million for the talented but temperamental Tevez.
Napoli also spent well, using their €64m windfall from the sale of Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain to acquire Gonzalo Higuain, Raul Albiol and Jose Callejon from Real Madrid, as well as PSV winger Dries Mertens and Verona's midfield metronome Jorginho, although the latter only arrived midway through the season.
Cash-strapped Milan took a punt on a couple of younger players in the shape of Andrea Poli and Riccardo Saponara before then bringing former fan favourite Kaka back to San Siro on a free transfer after his disastrous, injury-blighted spell at Real Madrid.
Inter's market was equally unimpressive, though they did make one excellent addition, taking Mauro Icardi from Sampdoria for just €13m.
Roma made a small fortune from the sales of Marquinhos (PSG), Pablo Osvaldo (Southampton) and Erik Lamela (Tottenham) and reinvested that money in the likes of Medhi Benatia, Kevin Strootman, Adem Ljajic and Gervinho to varying degrees of success before then wisely taking Radja Nainggolan off Cagliari in the January window.
Elsewhere, Lazio snapped up two excellent South Americans, Felipe Anderson and Lucas Biglia, while Fiorentina replaced Stevan Jovetic with Bayern Munich No.9 Mario Gomez.
SEASON SUMMARY
With former Lille boss Rudi Garcia now at the helm, a radically revamped Roma side made their best ever start to a Serie A season, winning their first 10 games to announce themselves as Scudetto contenders.
However, the goals then began to dry up for the Giallorossi, who drew five of their next seven matches before losing their unbeaten record just after the winter break when they were hammered 3-0 by new leaders Juventus in Turin.
In fairness, the capital club recovered well from that setback but Juve were relentless, winning 14 of their final 15 games - the one blemish was a 2-0 loss at Napoli - to finish 17 points clear, setting a new Serie A record for games won in a single season (33) in the process.
The once mighty Milan endured a horrific campaign, with Massimiliano Allegri sacked in January having won just four games during the first half of the season. He was replaced by former Rossoneri midfielder Clarence Seedorf but the coaching novice fared little better and Milan ended up finishing eighth, outside of the European places.
Inter, though, claimed one of the Europa League places under ex-Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri thanks primarily to the goals of Rodrigo Palacio.
However, Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis couldn’t have been happier with how his season panned out as Mazzarri’s successor, Rafael Benitez, led the San Paolo side back into the Champions League via a third-placed finish.

Roma lost their heads and the title during their 3-0 loss to Juventus in Turin. Daniele De Rossi and Leandro Castan were both dismissed in a game decided by goals from Arturo Vidal, Leonardo Bonucci and Mirko Vucinic. Roma never got close to Juve thereafter.
