Bayern Munich were held to a draw for the third time in their last five Bundesliga matches after a stubborn host in Union Berlin picked up a well-deserved 1-1 draw in the German capital.
Hansi Flick’s team remain top of the Bundesliga on goal difference before Bayer Leverkusen’s clash on Sunday but there’s little doubt that the Bayern manager will be disappointed in a number of his players for their poor performances.

✔️ GOOD PERFORMANCE
When Bayern were in desperate need of a goal it will come as no surprise to read that Robert Lewandowski was the man to step up and knock the ball into the back of the net.
Late on in the second half a Kingsley Coman cut back bobbled into the Union box and as if like magic it was the Polish striker who stepped up and fired it home in his 200th league game for Bayern.
A tricky away game to in-form Union was always going to require a moment of magic from one of Bayern’s attacking players and that’s exactly what happened in the 67th minute when Coman picked up the ball.
The Frenchman took on two Union defenders before cutting the ball back to Lewandowski to score the equaliser. No player made more dribbles than Coman over the course of the match, as the winger spent the evening trying to break through a stubborn defence.
❌ BAD PERFORMANCE
Union deserve a huge amount of credit for their disciplined performance on Saturday evening but if there’s one player that didn’t seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet it was midfielder Sebastian Griesbeck.
The 30-year-old managed to lose the ball seven times and had a pretty terrible pass completion rate of just 65%, as he offered very little going forward and all sorts of problems for Union’s defensive line.
⭐ STAR MAN
While Bayern may have ultimately managed to claw back a point from their hosts on Saturday the game will undoubtedly be remembered for Union’s performance and the goal Grischa Promel scored in the first half.
The defensive midfielder leaped above all others for the corner in the fourth minute of the game and scored a truly satisfying looping header over the top of the outstretched Manuel Neuer.
The midfielder was also at the heart of a performance that not only allowed Union to defend relatively comfortably for much of the match but also counter attack on numerous occasions, which should have perhaps led to more goals from the hosts.
