Tottenham’s Ben Davies insists that there are now no concerns among his team-mates over returning to Premier League action following the pandemic.

Teams across Europe haven’t played a competitive match for over three months, as the world went into lockdown due to the coronavirus.

However, the German Bundesliga has led the way for the return of the elite leagues, while La Liga is set to recommence on Thursday with the Seville derby.

The Premier League will follow on June 17 with two fixtures before a full card on June 20.

And Davies says that despite initial player welfare concerns, Spurs are now raring to go.

"Honestly, no, not in our team," he replied on the Feast of Football podcast when asked if concerns still remained.

"We have trained for a couple of weeks now. We are still doing everything right - we are still not allowed in the building unless it's for [the] gym [and then] everything is separate - everything is wiped down.

"But everybody feels ready now. If we are doing full contact training then it gets to a stage where you just want to be competitive again."

When talks of a Premier League return started, Davies admits that players were worried that football would take vital NHS resources away from more appropriate places.

"You want to make sure everybody is safe and able to cope before football [returns]," the Welshman insisted.

"But now we are close, we are desperate to play.

"I think the biggest concern from all of us was - would it be OK to play?

"Would we be taking ambulances from the NHS to be pitch-side? Or we have got paramedics where they could be used better [somewhere else]? That's a lot of the argument - football shouldn't be the main thing that is dominating in this climate."

Tottenham are currently eighth in the Premier League table, and restart their campaign on 20 June with a crunch match against Manchester United.
