Andre Pirlo has confirmed that Gonzalo Higuain will leave Juventus this summer.

Following the club's disappointing loss in the Champions League to Lyon in the round of 16, Maurizio Sarri was sacked as head coached and replaced by former player, Pirlo.

Since then, the Italian World Cup winner has been overseeing a squad overhaul, with various ageing, high-earning players set to depart Turin.

The first heading for the exit is Higuain, who the club have been trying to offload for the part two seasons.

He was previously loaned out to Milan and then Chelsea before returning to Juve for the 2019/20 campaign, when he failed to reclaim the form of his earlier years in Serie A, with Napoli in particular.

"We’ve decided together with Gonzalo Higuain that he’ll leave the club this summer. He’s out of the project and we’re ready to let him go." Pirlo told the press on Tuesday.

Since moving to Juve, Higuain has helped the club win three leagues in a row and two Coppa Italia trophies.
