Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appeared perplexed at the officiating after his side's 'lucky' 1-0 victory over West Bromich Albion.

WBA's Conor Gallagher has awarded a penalty following a foul from Bruno Fernandes, but the decision was overturned by VAR.

Then at the other end United won a penalty for handball, one which Bruno Fernandes missed after his kick was saved by Sam Johnstone.

But Johnstone's feet were off the line and so the referee ordered a retake, with Fernandes this time slotting into the net for the only goal.

WBA had excellent chances in the match and were unfortunate not to take something - and Solksjaer agreed:

He said: "I looked at a penalty this afternoon, [Aston] Villa against Brighton and there's contact on the ball and then the man.

"In my head it might be a penalty. Maybe here we're a tad lucky but none of them are given. Maybe the rules are different to how I interpret them."

WBA boss Slaven Bilic was understandably disappointed with the referee's decision, saying afterwards: "I'm very disappointed with the decision. I felt like 'small West Brom'. All those crucial decisions went against us. I've watched it a few times and it's a clear penalty. I don't understand why he overturned it."
