Manchester City will become the last Premier League team to get their season up and running on Monday evening when they take on Wolves.

Due to their participation in the latter stages of the Champions League, Pep Guardiola's side were granted an extra week to prepare for the new season, with all others team apart from Manchester United starting their campaigns last weekend.

As a result should they lose tonight they would be six points behind the champions, which could be an early blow due to the 18-point gap between the pair in the title race last year.

Guardiola has bolstered his backline with the signing of Nathan Ake, while Ferran Torres has arrived from Valencia to replace Leroy Sane, who joined Bayern.

The Spaniard has a few selection headaches heading into this one.

At the tail end of last week he confirmed that Sergio Aguero could be sidelined for another two months with his current knee injury, which will add pressure on Gabriel Jesus to provide the goals up top.

Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte are still getting back to full fitness after testing positive for coronavirus, but it is thought the Algerian could start while Laporte isn't perhaps quite ready.

On Monday morning, City revealed that Ilkay Gundogan had also tested positive so the German won't be available for a couple of weeks.

Bernardo Silva is a doubt due to a thigh strain.
