How Liverpool could line-up v Brighton

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be hoping his side can bounce back to winning ways when they visit Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Atalanta caused a bit of an upset in the Champions League on Wednesday, when the Serie A side dismantled a Liverpool team without a number of key players and claimed a strong 2-0 win.

However, the Liverpool manager should be able to welcome back a number of key players for the weekend’s domestic test.

In defence, Klopp will be waiting to see if Trent Alexander-Arnold can pass a late fitness test, as the England defender closes in on a return to action after an injury. However, it’s more likely that James Milner will once again take up the right-back role.

Liverpool are still without Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez due to long-term injuries, meaning Klopp will most likely have to make do with Joel Matip and Fabinho has his first-choice central defenders. Despite missing out in midweek, Andy Robertson should be ready to return at left-back.

A big boost for the Anfield side will come in the form of Jordan Henderson in the middle of the pitch. The England midfielder didn’t feature in the Atalanta defeat but did train on Thursday and should be fit for the clash against Brighton.

Another benefit will come in the form of Mohamed Salah, who returned from a positive COVID test to play in the midweek match. Although the striker didn’t score, Klopp will appreciate the 60 minutes of game time he got and will expect another start against Brighton.
