Manchester City have had a bid of £41m accepted for Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake.

According to the Daily Echo, the transfer could likely completed within the next few days as Pep Guardiola attempts to add a central defender to his squad for the 2020/21 campaign.

Despite being relegated to the Championship on the last day of the Premier League season, Ake has been one of Bournemouth’s standout players this campaign, and had been linked with a move away from the Cherries even if they had remained in the division.

The relegation has meant that City have managed to have a cut-price fee accepted, however.

Ake was previously with Chelsea before making a £20m move to Bournemouth in 2017 after a successful loan spell at the Vitality Stadium in the 2016/17 campaign.

Also reportedly interested in the Dutchman were Manchester United, with rumours intensifying of a potential move after the player was spotted speaking to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the match between United and Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
