Over the International break, one manager lost his job in France, while Frank Lampard, Zinedine Zidane, and Ronald Koeman had weekends to forget as club football returned.
SACKED: Vincent Hognon
Vincent Hognon has been sacked as head coach of Metz following the club's uninspiring start to the season.
He has been replaced by the man he initially replaced, Frederic Antonetti.
Antonetti only left the role in May of 2019 in order to take care of his sick wife, who sadly passed away in July of 2020.
SECURE (FOR NOW): Frank Lampard
However, with over £200m spent in the transfer window, he opted not to spend big money on a centre-back, with Thiago Silva only brought in on a free transfer.
Although they are looking good going forward, with new signings Timo Werner and Kai Havertz getting on the scoresheet at the weekend, they still conceded three goals against Southampton to draw 3-3.
In their five opening games, they have conceded nine goals.
SECURE: Ronald Koeman and Zinedine Zidane
Neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid made any signature, marquee signings during the transfer window due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the lack of fresh blood promises to bring about a season of twists and turns.
Both sides lost 1-0 this weekend to Getafe and Cadiz respectively, and can only take heart from the fact that neither lost ground to their Clasico rivals in the title race.
