Bruno Fernandes may only have been at Manchester United 15 months but he has gone down in history as one of their most prolific players ever from the penalty spot.
On Thursday, in a Europa League semi-final with Roma, Fernandes converted his 20th penalty for the club. Remarkably, only Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney, who spent five and 13 years at Old Trafford respectively, have ever converted more.
There was more than a hint of controversy about the award, too, with Edinson Cavani adjudged to have been challenged late.
Nevertheless, Fernandes showed his characteristic cool head in front of goal to covert from 12 yards, helping his side to a comprehensive 6-2 win over the Italian outfit and setting them up to reach the final. Earlier, he had opened the scoring with a deft finish after some fine interplay with Edinson Cavani.
Fernandes is now up to 36 goals in total for Man Utd, but more than half of these have been scored from the penalty spot.
It is a skill he excels in, though fans of rival clubs would doubtless suggest he gets plenty of practise. Indeed, he has only missed once for Man Utd, while he also saw a penalty stopped in a Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain only for a retake to be given.
Indeed, he has never gone more than 32 days without taking a penalty in a competitive match for Man Utd during the season.
His statistics, then, have been significantly padded out with penalties.
