After the Bundesliga opening day victory versus Gladbach, thing were looking bright for Dortmund.
However, last weekend they suffered a surprising loss 2-0 loss against Augsburg, only to be let off the hook when Bayern also dropped points the next day.
They then took on the champions in the Super Cup during the week, and although they showed passion to fight back to 2-2 after being 2-0 down, they ultimately succumbed to a 3-2 loss after a winner in the last 10 minutes from Joshua Kimmich.
For the match against Bayern, they were missing Jadon Sancho due to illness as well as Roman Burki.
It is touch and go whether Sancho has recovered in time to play against Augsburg, but if he is close to fully fit then expect Favre to put him straight back in the starting XI.
Thorgan Hazard, Marcel Schmelzer and Dan-Axel Zagadou remain certain absentees.
Dortmund were excellent in the second half against Bayern and had chances to win the game, with both Thomas Delaney and Julian Brandt impressing despite not seeing much action in the Bundesliga as of yet.
The pair may well have played their way into contention to start versus Freiburg.
