In a week unusually bereft of top class goals, a beauty from the Gunners' talisman stood out

5. GNABRY LOVES LONDON

Bayern swept Chelsea aside with a comfortable 3-0 away win at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League, with Serge Gnabry once again enjoying a return to London, scoring two goals.

His second was a lovely move from the visitors. Robert Lewandowski nods the ball down to Gnabry who bursts forward at speed before exchanging a one-two with the Pole which sets him down the left channel into the box. The resulting finish is guided into the bottom right corner with his left foot, cool as you like.

4. APPLAUD FOR ALEKSIC

Istanbul Basaksehir impressively defeated Sporting CP 4-1 in the Europa League, with Danijel Aleksic scoring this cracking free-kick.

Standing over the set-piece deep down the right wing, he proceeds to whip an emphatic strike over everyone into the top left corner.

Was it a shot? Was it a cross? Only he knows.

The goalkeeper doesn't cover himself in glory, though.

3. PERFECT Pizzi

Pizzi put in a talismanic performance for Benfica as they drew 3-3 with Shakhtar, only to unfortunately for them, go out on away goals.

After being 2-1 down from the first leg, he single handedly hauled Benfica back into contention by contributing to two goals in the first half.

The first was his own, and it was an absolutely beauty as he drifted into the centre via the left channel unopposed before guiding a lovely, curled right-footed effort into the bottom corner.

2. MAGNIFICENT MERTENS

Napoli earned a 1-1 draw at home to Barcelona during the week, with the opening goal being scored in gorgeous fashion by Dries Mertens.

The ball drops to the Belgian just to the left of goal outside the box, with him given enough space by the Barcelona defence to curl a perfect right-footed strike into the top corner, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen left standing on the spot.

1. AUBA KEEPS Arsenal ALIVE...FOR A BIT

Arsenal were eventually knocked out of the Europa League by Olympiacos on away goals, with the visitors scoring in the last minute of extra time.

In the regulation 90 minutes, they earned the 1-0 result to take to extra time.

In the added 30 minutes, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang probably thought he had won it for the Gunners with this spectacular bicycle kick at the far post which is slammed into the top corner. It would prove to be in vain, in the end.
