Borussia Dortmund were forced to fight for every point in Saturday’s Bundesliga clash in a 3-2 victory over Stuttgart.

Although Erling Haaland did pick up a vital assist in the match, a lack of goals means the Norwegian striker has now gone 495 minutes since he last scored a goal for club or country.

Against a well coached and determined Stuttgart side, Haaland showed flashes of what he can offer as a forward but spent much of the match looking like a frustrated figure due to the lack of service he was offered throughout the match.

CRUCIAL DUMMY ⏱️ 52’’

After bouncing back a few minutes into the second half with an equalising goal through Jude Bellingham, Dortmund then struck again just five minutes later with a second goal from Marco Reus.

Although Haaland won’t be awarded with an official assist for the goal, the Norwegian striker performed an impressive dummy to allow Mateu Morey’s through ball to go through his legs and land at the feet of Marco Reus, who then duly curled it inside the far post to put Dortmund in the lead.

ASSIST ⏱️ 80’’

It wouldn’t be a Dortmund victory without a young player stepping up to the plate to score the winner and on this occasion it was young Ansgar Knauff who snatched the winner for his side against Stuttgart.

While Haaland may have preferred to have knocked the ball into the back of the net himself, the striker will undoubtedly be pleased to have received the ball into the final third and then passed the ball to Knauff before scoring the goal, to earn himself at least an assist.

Haaland: What Next?

With Dortmund just about squeezing beyond Stuttgart to keep their hopes of finishing in the top four alive, the Bundesliga side will now turn their attention to their Champions League second leg against Manchester City.

Like Saturday’s game, Haaland was unable to bag a goal against Man City but did claim an assist and there’s no doubt that the ambitious striker will hope to put on the kind of performance that could almost single handedly knock the Premier League side out of the competition.
