Norwich have secured promotion to the Championship after Watford, Swansea and Brentford, their three closest contenders, all dropped points.

The Canaries don’t play until Saturday evening, when they will face Bournemouth, but their promotion was secured this afternoon.

Watford lost away to Luton, Swansea were held at home by relegation-threatened Wycome Wanderers and Brentford were held by Millwall.

This combination of results means that Norwich are now assured a place in the top two, while they need only seven points from their four remaining matches to seal the title. It will be their fourth promotion in 10 years.

Meanwhile, Barnsley play Coventry City on Sunday.

Further down the table, QPR beat Middlesbrough 2-1 at the Riverside Stadium to leapfrog them in the table.

Huddersfield Town also secured a victory against Nottingham Forest that all-but secured their safety for another season in the second tier.

Sheffield Wednesday could only draw with Bristol City, and are now seven points from safety.

Stoke and Preston also played out a draw, with the game ending goalless.
