About Jamaica

Jamaica have made it to one World Cup in their history, in France in 1998. Although they failed to make it out of the group stage, their qualification was viewed as huge progression and it was not an altogether disappointing experience. They lost their first two matches in convincing fashion against Croatia and Argentina, but they secured their one and only World Cup victory against Japan in Lyon, with Theodore Whitmore scoring both goals in a 2-1 win. Jamaica have enjoyed more success closer to home, winning the Caribbean Cup six times in their history, whilst also finishing as runners-up twice in the Concacaf Gold Cup. Ian Goodison is their record appearance holder, and as of 2018 at 45-years-old, he continues to play with Harbour View in the National Premier League in Jamaica. Luton Shelton, also of Harbour View, has netted the most international goals.
