Huge headaches for Les Bleus - How France could line up against Switzerland at Euro 2020

Didier Deschamps is renowned in France as a lucky coach, but a number of injury problems have hit his squad before the last-16 encounter.

France do not have their problems to seek ahead of their Euro 2020 last-16 encounter against Switzerland.

The Swiss will be underdogs, but they have a decent record against Les Bleus in recent times. Indeed, four of the last five meetings have ended drawn. The one exception was a thumping France win at the 2014 World Cup, with Karim Benzema on target that day.

In the knockout stages of the European Championship, simple progression is the name of the game.

France will have to show flexibility, though, as they have headaches brewing at left-back. Lucas Hernandez and Lucas Digne are both toiling.

A switch to three at the back has been suggested, though Thomas Lemar is also carrying a knock.

Meanwhile, it could fall on central midfielder Adrien Rabiot, centre-back Presnel Kimpembe or right-back Leo Dubois to deputise. There is no clear choice for head coach Didier Deschamps.

On the right, meanwhile, Jules Kounde was unconvincing against Portugal so there could be a return for the out-of-form Benjamin Pavard. Raphael Varane will continue in the centre, probably alongside Kimpembe.

Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante will continue in midfield, though who plays alongside them is liable to be dictated by the decision at left-back.

Meanwhile, the trio of Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema will continue in attack, though they have not dovetailed particularly well thus far.

France may be Euro 2020 favourites, but they have questions to answer against Switzerland.
