Timo Werner struck a superb curling effort as RB Leipzig raced into a lead only to be pegged back to 2-2 against Dusseldorf.

Dusseldorf arguably had the better of the first half, one in which Leipzig struggled to fashion any clear cut chances at all.

Werner's only involvement was following in on a long-range shot but was flagged offside, then a looping header that was easily saved by the opposition goalkeeper.

But a different Leipzig emerged after the interval and Kevin Kampl's wonderful long-range curler broke the deadlock and opened up the contest entirely.

⚽ Then a truly typical Werner moment. The German was given far too much time inside the area to shift onto his right foot and swerve an unstoppable shot into the same corner that Kampl had just scored in.

It wasn't Werner's most influential display; he managed just 37 touches before being taken off on 75 minutes. He didn't complete any dribbles nor did he make any key passes.

And his coach Julian Nagelsmann may regret having taken off his star man at 2-0, as Dusseldorf pegged them back to 2-2 with virtually the last kick of the contest.
