It wasn't supposed to be this way. Such was the clamour to get Ernesto Valverde out of Barcelona that the fans should have been careful what they wished for.
It is still early days in his reign as Barca coach but the signs, particularly away from home, make for worrying reading. Losses to Valencia, Athletic, Real Madrid in the past two months have been striking in their ineptness. Lionel Messi, having a direct contribution in 62% of the goals, needs help and he's not getting it from the bench.
Setien won't be sacked mid-season, particularly after the botched nature of Valverde's departure. But if this form keeps up he can forget about next season, particularly when some high-profile coaches come out of the European Championship looking for new challenges.
GONE - ROLANDO MARAN (CAGLIARI)
Cagliari had made a tremendous start to the season but the wheels came off in December and the team haven't won a game since.
Give the start and how relegation is not a threat, it was thought Maran may be given time to turn it around. But this is Italy, and this means runs like this can't go without sacrifice.
As a result, Maran has vacated the post, with Cagliari on the hunt for something fresh until the end of the season.
