Dzeko stars for Roma in Serie A weekend affected by postponed fixtures
Edin Dzeko was head and shoulders above everyone at the Stadio Olimpico in terms of performance level as he scored one and assisted another in Roma's comfortable 3-0 win over Lecce.
Even though none of these came for the opening goal, he played a part in it as his run to the left took the attentions of the opposition defence away from Cengiz Under, who scored.
Then, to set up the second, he patiently waited for the overlapping run from Henrikh Mkhitaryan before sliding a pass in behind the Lecce backline for his team-mate.
He would eventually get on the scoresheet himself, albeit in strange circumstances after he scored from close range, only to frustratingly bounce the ball off the ground, thinking he was offside. He wasn't, and Roma went 3-0 up.
Mkhitaryan also impressed for the Giallorossi, as he recorded a goal and an assist of his own.
The assist came for the opening goal as he tenaciously won the ball back inside the Lecce half before powering forward to neatly thread a pass down the right channel for Under to slot a finish home.
It would be the Armenian who would double the lead in the 27th minute with a cool finish under the oncoming goalkeeper after the aforementioned pass from Dzeko.
He completed 45/54 passes, 17 of which were sent into the final third.
Napoli displayed grit and determination to come back from a goal down to beat Brescia 2-1 away from home, with Fabian Ruiz scoring what proved to be the winner.
Ten minutes into half-time, he lit up the game with an incredible, curled effort into the top left corner from around 25 yards in what was a fabulous display of technique for one of the goals of the weekend.
As usual, his passing helped dictate the tempo for Napoli, as he completed 91/100 balls to team-mates which was the third-most of anyone in the league this week.
