FC Player of the Day, 26 Jan: Kai Havertz (Leverkusen)

Martin Macdonald

Kai Havertz continued his excellent form since the turn of the year and made it two goals in two games as Leverkusen defeated Dusseldorf 3-0.

He scored the opening goal five minutes before half time, latching on to a cracking cross from Karim Bellarabi to glance a superb header into the bottom corner after making a late run into the box from midfield.

The young German had 10 touches inside the box which was more than everyone else in this round of fixtures apart from Robert Lewandowski of Bayern.

He misplaced just seven passes, completing 43/50 attempted balls to team-mates.

If not for the profligacy of his team-mates, he would have earned an assist, too, as he created two 'big' goalscoring chances to no avail.
