FC Player of the Day, 15 Dec: Neymar (PSG)

Martin Macdonald

Neymar may have got on the scoresheet for PSG by scoring their opening goal in the 4-0 rout over Saint-Etienne, but it came from a Leandro Paredes volley which was probably heading in anyway.

However, his perfect rating is still fully deserved from the rest of his play, which was magnificent as he set up a further two goals and also won a penalty.

For his first assist, he slid a perfect pass through for partner-in-crime Kylian Mbappe to lash a strike home, before once again finding the Frenchman for the fourth goal after picking out a ball down the right channel.

He took the eventual spotkick which he won, but was unlucky to smash his strike off the post.

He sent 36 passes into the final third, had 109 touches overall, and helped out defensively too with eight ball recoveries.
